So just finished the first semester of my senior year of college and what did i learn... i should have never become a Biology Major.  

I really wish i had taken the classes i took this semester right away in college because i would have realized where my true passion in the sciences was. Not in the Genetics but in how the body works. I wish i would have known this and became an integrated physiology major or even a health studies major (most likely the first one). But alas, i only have one semester left so there's no point in changing now, either way i will still end up where i want to be, in optometry school. (hopefully) 

why didn't i realize this sooner i feel like i would have enjoyed so many more of classes during my collegiate career.  oh well. 

Now that i only have one semester left my life plan has also changed.... ultimate goal of optometry school still the same... but my path to getting there is way different. 

Here is my new life plan: I'm currently in the process of applying for a Research position down at The University of Houston for the optometry department. Why Houston? Well, i wanted to go to school there in the first place and the job was perfect given my research background plus i need a change of scenery. Don't get me wrong i absolutely love Iowa City but it has just become so routine and it has put me into sort of a rut so hopefully this life plan works out.

Oh the joys of growing up  

Roadtrip!!!

So my goal of going on a roadtrip during college is about to be accomplished this weekend on what I like to call The Fundamental Roadtrip. I can not wait to be in Florida tomorrow to begin this adventure.

1) I get to see A.Hughes again after about a month ( i think its the longest ive gone without seeing her since her return from europe)

2) Our possible trip to Disney World , I love Disney World and it gets better everytime i go ( i think this will be visit number 4 in about 4 years lol)

3) All the wonderful picture opportunities we will have at our tourist stops along the way :) thank you A.hughes for looking those up

4) I get to see my Oldest kinda sister Kassie and...

5) I FINALLY GET TO MEET BABY GRAHAM!

My new found appreciation of the Public Lib.

So after a week of back to back to back to back midterms, yes that equals 4 wonderful midterms in one week, i have learned a few new things about the public library that makes me love studying there.

here are the things i already loved about the public library prior to this past week:

1) color!!! its so colorful in there and not as depressing as the main lib. or as secluded as the medical lib.

2) the cool and comfortable (also colorful) furniture

3) the wide array of people who come and sit/sleep on the couches and chairs

4) The feeling i get when walking into the lib. ... you know feeling like matilda about to go on an awesome adventure with books (minus the little red wagon and plus a few 20 years)

5) being able to distract myself with a wide array of magazines

6) lots of windows ... which also leads to distractions

7) being able to walk downstairs and grab a coffee, gelato, piece of pizza, apple,banana, or other food/ drink from the surrounding area without having to walk up a huge hill.

8) being able to find a place to sit easily

New things i learned about the library that make me love it more

1)the fact that are vending machines there

2) the upstairs bathroom which saves me a walk downstairs

3) the study rooms and corner desks

4) unlimited distractions

maybe i will be a real doctor

So today while at the library I read an article in the Daily Iowan about a man who lost his eye sight when he was 19 and recently was able to watch his first Iowa Hawkeye football game in about 64 years. I loved this article for 2 reasons... 1) i love Hawkeye Football 2) I love vision hence my desire to become an eye doctor.

Even though I want to be an eye doctor to help improve peoples vision through glasses, contacts, and non-invasive surgical techniques such as lasik ,I know want to be an Ophthalmologist which means Med. school instead of Optometry school because there are a lot more surgeries and such involved with ophthalmology... I guess i could take both the MCAT and the OAT next year and decide after that what it is i truly want to do ...hmm decisions decisions

Boys, Guys, and Men

So while working out today i watched Holidate, yet another reality dating show, but this one i learned a little something from. While on a date the girl asked the guy she was with if he was looking for a relationship and this was his answer.... " From my last relationship i learned a lot about the difference between boys, guys, and men... " heres the difference... they are boys until the age of 24 because they have no idea what they want or what they are doing , they are like lost puppy dogs, for the next decade from 25-35 they are guys...fun to hang out with, good to date, but not ready for commitment, and after 35 they are men becasue they are ready for that next step.....

i already figured out that guys are boys especially while still in college, or at least thats the experience i have had. I dont think that they are guys from 25-35 i feel like different guys grow up at different times... obviously he hadnt yet ... and also guys and men will still act like boys

test anxiety

So this week I have four tests, and yes i should be studying right now instead of updating my blog, but if you know me you know that I will do anything to not study such as

• claim i have to go to walmart for toothpaste even though i have enough to last the week ... but i know if i went i would spend at least an hour there
• claim that i need a new toothbrush so i can once again go to walmart ( i would say target but its closed right now, i lovvvveeeee target)
• workout for a prolonged period of time
• watch 2 chick flicks while eating ice cream claiming to be depressed over a boy when im really not
• blog

so as you can see that leaves less time to actually study which increases my stress levels which

a re already high since I need to do well on these tests so i can fulfill my year and half long dream of going to optometry school and becoming Dr. Stephanie (i'd put a last name too but who knows if by the time i become a doctor i will still be an Enriquez, a hyphenated version of my last name and whoever else's, or if there will be no Enriquez) Yep so anyway i hate having four tests in one week it makes me cry (no really it does i've cried twice today after saying i have 4 tests) Not only does it make me cry but i also behave weirdly... such as

• laying in random places around the house in weird positions
• singing the abc's
• saying things such as "oh that was funny... to me"
• dancing around
• being overly perky(aka ditzy) when talking to someone
• blogging

as a very good band, brand new, would put it ... This is a lesson in procrastination I kill myself because I'm so frustrated And every single second that I put it off means another lonely night I gotta race the clock

over the being a doctor... now i want to be a chef

So lately i've had this great desire to cook things, which if you know me i don't cook, so this is a very new development in my life. I think over the past couple days i have spent more time on the kraft foods website than i have on facebook, and for sure on this thing.

Although I have spent much time on the website i have yet to cook any of their recipes, im afraid that i wont like what i cook even if they have high ratings... but maybe i will start cooking for the house, i mean i do have 2 roommates that might eat what i make... well one for sure.

New Electronics

I had to go to best buy again the other day to buy a new camera because i lost my old new camera. Once again best buy was out of the camera i wanted UGH, i would have complained but then theywould have wondered why in the world i buy cameras so frequently, so i didn't and just had them order it for me.

In the time i had to wait to go pick up my camera Kelsey purchased a new computer!!!! Its about time since she's been using mine for the last year of my life, i think i was more excited to pick it up than she was and definitely more excited to pick it up than my camera. So since she was always on my computer i am writing this blog on hers, while waiting for A. Hughes to get here WOOO

OMG its the Jewish New Year today and A. Hughes is coming :) sorry for the random transition there but i was just informed of this and thought i would share that with you :)

And im back :)

So after a break from my blog i am now back .. be excited i know that kelsey is.  

I figured that since both Kelsey and Allison have started or added lists to their blogs ( AFI top 100 and some top book list that I'm not 100% sure i know the name of ) that I too would add a list of something i'm interested in.  The problem with that is i'm interested in music ... there are TONS of genres and tons of artists that i'm pretty sure there is not just one list that would fall into the "list" category like the girls have. I mean i found the top 100 music video list on youtube, I could do that but it changes ALL the time.  I also thought i could do the top music list from foreign countries ( after Italy i love listening to foreign music) but that changes too. So i guess i will not start or add a top 100 song list to my blog :( i know disappointing right. I will just have to blog about other random things i feel i need to write about
